Magic in Music

How much important music is to me?
In every sphere of life it is available and free
Why is it so that fruits are so dear to the tree?
Do we mean it is purely an attachment to see?

Is there any magic music can deliver to human being
Is it confined to ordinary street singers and not to kings?
Can any one claim hegemony or control over it?
Is it not the glimmer of hope in the dimly light?

I wondered at all the aspects and understood the impact
It is divine drink and can turn human being in fact
Can this precious gift be taken over by any religious sect?
Is it not our Endeavor to see that it remain in tact?

It has delivered wonders to bring new lease of life or energy
It may so happen that people may turn happy and not feel gloomy
It has to be realized in its essence and understood fully
Then we may be in position to deliver it truly

It generates coolness with morning breeze
Ears come to the sense and feelings don't freeze
You look around to see the beautiful world
Your surge ahead with resolve and not feel cold

Can we not keep it as eternal and preserve?
Can we not wipe out tears of poor and serve?
Can we sell I cheaply for use it only for selfish end?
Is it not divine gift to be offered to all and sent?

Dead can be brought alive if served as tonic?
It will be nice if it is termed purely as music
Prayers and hymns are pure form of music and sung
It may be worth while...

Great 80s Music Hits

When most people think of the 80s they do not have very fond memories of the music that was on the air at the time. We tend to think of the 70s as the "disco" era and the 60s as the time when rock music developed. The 60s were the days of the Beatles, the Rolling Stones, the Who, and a host of other great bands that we now think of as the seminal groups in rock history. But the 80s were a different story and do not get the respect that many experts think it should.

80s music hits included great bands like Tears for Fears and their fantastic international number one hit "Everybody Wants to Rule the World" and "Shout". Who can forget Simple Minds and "Don't You Forget About Me"? There were plenty of great groups making 80s music hits that just don't get the credit they deserve.

There were modern pop groups too like Pet Shop Boys and their huge 80s music hit "East End Boys and West End Girls" or the digital Depeche Mode with "Strange Love", "Policy of Truth", "Personal Jesus" and "Route 66". Other cult bands with truly great musicians sprang up like The Cure and their hit "Just Like Heaven".

The 80s was also the time of bands such as the Psychedelic Furs and their big 80s music hit "Pretty in Pink" from the movie of the same name. There was also R.E.M. and their song "Losing My Religion" which was in many ways responsible for the proliferation of 90s style Modern Rock.

80s music hits were not limited to Pop music, but were also being created by bonafide rock bands such as Duran Duran with their hit "Rio" and also Bon Jovi with what many consider one of the best of the 80s music hits "Livin' On A Prayer". And who will ever forget Guns n' Roses with "Sweet Child of Mine" which sounds as fresh today as it was back then.

The 80s were also the time of Michael Jackson, Prince, and Madonna, three giants of the industry who continued to churn out hit after hit for many years. Prince's "Purple Rain" was just the right blend of rock and soul and the big hit from the album was "Let's Go Crazy". U2 began in the 80s and their songs "With or Without You" and "Pride (In the Name of Love) from their giant album The Joshua Tree began a long string of massive 80s music hits for them.

Whimsical music was also the order of the day and groups like Wham and their hit "Careless Whispers" topped the charts. A-Ha, a pop group from Sweden also rocked on with their big hit "Take on Me".

There were some extremely dark songs as well like the moody "Voices Carry" by Til Tuesday, a one hit wonder. The Fixx added their fiery brand of rock with "Red Skies at Night".

Imagine What You Can Achieve With Music Schools

Well-known as a giant in the music industry, California is the entertainment capital of the planet. Hotel California, one of the most famous hits in music to date was called after the city. That song struck #37 on the Rolling Stone Magazine's list of the 500 Greatest Albums of all time and is created by Don Henley and The Eagles. "Some of the wilder interpretations of that song have been amazing. It was really about the excesses of American culture and certain girls we knew. But it was also about the uneasy balance between art and commerce," all these are the accurate phrases of Don Henley when he was interviewed by the London Daily Mail on November 9, 2007.

Back in 1974 in Malibu, Don leased a beach house on a wonderful, sun-drenched day in July and influenced him to create that song. He picked up his 12 string guitar and away of it came the song. Starting from that day it took the Eagles 8 months of polishing take after take until they were delighted with it. Considering it is one of the most well-known songs in music history, seems like the time frame was well worth spending.

The music industry is an enjoyable area as The Eagles can certainly testify. Yet in order to have a flourishing journey, proper training, understanding and contacts are necessary. Luck is a planning meeting opportunity, as what some individuals point out. If that is correct, then it is crucial to pick out the correct school since one really has to get ready for this field of study.

It is very crucial to think about either you want a degree or acquiring a hands-on experience quickly, also whether you want to turn out to be a music producer, recording engineer, music manager, publisher, songwriter or any of the numerous other music related occupation options. With many California music schools, the student will acquire an Associate's or Bachelor's degree when his education and learning is finished. If the student desires a degree, then there are different institutions and universities that have music recording and production majors and minors. Some of them also possess recording studios which permits the student to get acquainted with the correct software, equipment and conditions that they will be doing work in, in the long run.

In the highly competitive music business, accomplishing superb technical abilities is quite essential. There are colleges that have an optional form of training that believe that the only manner to get the ability needed is to understand within the confines of a working music studio. According to their philosophy, studying through a hands-on method is the moment the student discovers the most.

These sorts of learning institutions also feel that the mentor-apprentice relationship is essential for the ultimate in understanding and learning about music recording and production. Through this "partnership" the student is nurtured by the mentor as well as introduced to numerous of his business contacts that can tremendously assist the student in the future. These California music schools are ideal for students who wants to start studying in a real working atmosphere instantly, they merely need to study beyond the classroom environment.

A Review of Musicnotes - Digital Sheet Music Dealer

Are you a musician? Can you find the sheet music you want? If you are anything like me, then the answer is no. Although the town I live in isn't that small, there still isn't a large selection of stores when it comes to music. There is only one small music store that I go to (and only on rare occasions) when I need something immediately, like guitar strings for example.

When I want to buy sheet music though, that little shop isn't much help. There is only a small selection of sheet music for the most popular genres and most popular instruments. If you want to play Beethoven piano arrangements then you are fine, but if you want something else then you are out of luck.

I couldn't find what I wanted in my area, so shopping online was my only alternative. After trying different online sheet music dealers I finally came across one that I really liked-Musicnotes. This website offered instant digital sheet music and I thought it sounded cool, but wasn't sure how "digital" music works.

I found out that it was really easy to do it though. In order for the digital sheet music to work, you do need to have special sheet music software, but you can download that for free on the Musicnotes website. After downloading the free software I began searching through the music database. It was completely different from my local music store!

This site has thousands of songs to download the sheets for, and in many different genres. The quality of the site is great and I have never had interest in buying from a local store again. It is easy to buy exactly what I want and I don't even have to leave the house. I can find a song, download the sheet music, and learn it right away.

At first I was leery about the musicnotes player software, but now love it! It has many features that help you to learn songs such as being able to transpose, change the tempo, or learn one part of the song at a time.

The only downside I can see with this program is that you have to be on a computer for these features to work. But, if you want you can print off the sheet music like you normally would. Since I use a digital piano, I usually just slide that up next to my computer so I can use the software though, it really is a big help.

Rocking Tips in Hiring Rock 'n' Roll Bands

Rock music had been dominating the music world from the 50s up to the turn of the 21st century. From the King of Rock, Elvis Presley, who had taken the world by storm, rock music had revolved greatly over the years. Rock music had been refined and enhanced to fit the music cravings of the modern generation. But, may it be timeless rock music from Elvis Presley or the latest rock 'n' roll, rock music are sure to rock the house.

Hiring a rock and roll band is not as easy as 'one, two, three o'clock, eight o'clock rock'. It is a challenging task. But, you need not worry. Here are great tips to make the task simpler and more fun.

Make a rockin' list. Start everything with a list. Come up with a list of bands in your area that can rock and roll with the best of them. The internet can come up with numerous hits or you can scour your local newspaper for any ad or mention of bands. Shorten your list to a few bands which fit the bill and which you also can afford to hire.

Do a little check. Read feedback from previous clients. It also would not hurt to call some of them and inquire about the band's performance. A little insight from people who had experienced the band's performance will help a lot in making a rocking choice.

Watch them in action. See the goods first before you hire them. You can visit them in one of their gigs or you can watch video or audio samples they may have posted online. Whatever you do, don't hire them without seeing first how well they rock.

Remember, a great rock and roll band needs not be expensive. If you are a rock and roller yourself, trust your instinct and always choose a band that plays from the heart.

Loud Music at Weddings - What's the Point?

I know that I am going to be labeled as old-fashioned but having recently attended a wedding, I was bothered by the incredibly loud music. I have never understood loud music at bars; but, at a social gathering, like a wedding, why must we be subjected to sound at a level that makes any social interaction impossible? If you cannot be heard when you speak or are unable to hear the person talking to you, what is the point?

I would imagine that the answer lies in the fact that a lot of volume is needed for dancing. Why? Can you not dance just as well if the decibel level is somewhat lower? This is not a complaint about the X or the Y Generations because it was the Baby Boomers who started this trend.

What the loud music does is tire the listeners. Fighting to be heard or straining to hear takes work. It takes energy. And, after several hours of being bombarded with a volume level that is more than uncomfortable, you will have a sore throat from yelling, ears that are in pain, and quite possibly a headache.

The problem with loud music over an extended period of time is that it damages the ears. Those fine hairs in your ears, known as cilia, do not grow back. Once they are gone, they are gone. Without the cilia, you have no hearing. Of course, you can resort to hearing aids once the damage is done. Rest assured, with hearing aids, the voice you are hoping to hear sitting next to you will be heard as well as the amplification of every other incidental sound or noise in your surroundings.

Those who work in loud environments wear headphones to cut out the noise, be it at airports, factories, or out in the street. The decibel level for a jackhammer, for example, is 100 while the decibel level for a rock concert is 120. If those in our streets working with jackhammers wear headphones for 100 decibels in order to preserve their hearing, why must we be subjected to deafening music at decibel levels beyond that?

Common sense is becoming less and less common in our society today. To be subjected to deafening music for several hours at a time is certainly one of those situations where common sense does not rule.

Songs About Death - How Music Can Help You Cope With Your Grief

Hymns, poetry, music and favourite pieces of writing all feature in our thoughts after someone has died. Songs about death and mourning are something we are all forced to consider if we have any part in organising a funeral. Some reach for anthologies of poetry to find a favourite poem or a suitable reading. Many will turn to their favourite music or to the favourite music of the deceased. Whether or not this music features songs about death, or was just a favourite tune does not matter. The emotions can be stirred and help in our process of mourning.

First there may be times when we just want music to stir our own outpouring of grief. The right song might have lyrics that seem to understand how we feel and feeds our grief. The right tune may empathise with our sorrow.

Second there may be times when we want music which will be all about remembering the bereaved. Particular songs will have particular messages for individuals. There will be memories of times together. As the music is listened to initially in our bereavement, these songs main be painful as they trigger the acute sense of loss. Then as we hear them more, the acute sense of loss may fade and memories of the life together will be awakened.

Third there can be music will simply creates a mood. Musicians and composers know how to create a mood and we will all know our favourite songs to listen to at certain times. We can use these songs to help us through our mourning sometimes to change moods.

Finally, there will be songs that are simply and genuinely happy songs. Even in the deepest of depressions, feel-good songs cannot help but make us feel exactly that. We may not be ready for these in acute grief, but as time presses on, we may feel we need these as we find we need to rediscover ourselves in our new life without the one we loved.

Listening to songs about death and mourning may seem at first to be a little morbid, but in reality music can help us through our grief.

Detroit Rock Music Scene Predictions For 2010

Somehow throughout a wide range of cultural change Detroit rock music has lost its punch. Here is a scene that was once a hot bed for upcoming musical talent that created an entire industry. A lot has been said about Iggy Pop, (yes, he really did attend Pioneer High School in Ann Arbor) and the MC5, (I hear another documentary is in the works) and lately the White Stripes has received a lot of attention. I actually credit Jack White for saving rock radio in the 90's. Without his hard earned efforts we would have to warble along to the sad tunes of so many Pearl Jam rip off groups. It really is about as dismal as all that.

On April 8, 2010 I was confronted with some depressing news. Punk rock pioneer Malcom McLaren died in New York City at the age of 64. This rabble rouser single handedly crafted one of the most destructive and intriguing art movements in modern history. Behind him walked a parade of amazing characters including Sid Vicious, Cat Woman, The Sex Pistols, Johnny Rotten and in short created a revolution. Detroit has that some propensity about it when you look at the Motown Sound. We have giants that once walked our city streets too like Smokey Robinson, Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson, and David Ruffin. These personalities have shaped up an entire industry.

Lately those sounds of revolution have fallen silent. The streets of Detroit are somewhat barren to the earlier years. If you have a band it is preferred if you sell your own tickets to get people into the gigs. What has happened to Detroit is pathetic. We are gifted with many tribute bands that pay homage to Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd and Bob Segar which is very odd to me. What is even more disturbing is that people in my generation have paid less attention to rock music and pop culture altogether in favor of depressing get quick rich schemes. It's downright disgusting.

If Detroit is ever to stand up for anything again besides the automotive industry or the up and coming film industry we need to look at the music situation once again. We need to see more original acts and venues that will not turn away potential audiences. It is going to be difficult to sustain any type of long lasting effects by treating the music industry, what made us once great, as left over garbage. Music is an energy, it's an art form and it's a much needed industry to Detroit.

Detroit needs to remember to keep doing what it used to do best - innovating. This is what has made the city famous, culturally relevant and more importantly strong in nature. This is what is so exciting about living in Metro Detroit especially now during this time of economic turmoil. This entire region is about to burst with creativity. If you look closely, it is already happening.

Tune Into Music With the Best Quality iPod Headphones

Gone are the days of transistors and walkmans playing cassette tapes. Even CD players seem to be outdated with the advent of the iPod that virtually heralded a revolution in the music world. Regardless of your age, iPods are a must-have for music lovers and owning an iPod has become significantly easier since prices have now become more attractive. The iPod is basically a portable lightweight gadget that can store thousands of songs that you can listen to whenever you feel like. The quality of sound is outstanding and can be enhanced depending on the headphones you use. The best places to buy iPod headphones would be reputable headphones websites and the factors that must be taken into account when making your choice are the comfort quotient, price, durability and power of sound transmission.

Types of headphones:

Supra-aural headphones: these are more pocket friendly, manufactured in bulk and sit on the ear easily.

Circum-aural headphones: known to be superior in terms of sound quality because they can weaken the surrounding background noises and normally stretch over your ears. These naturally are too big for iPods.

Canal headphones: here the earphones can be put inside the ears directly but they are far more expensive. These are also good at lessening outside noise and produce high quality sound.

IPod headphones are typically small, semicircular shaped speakers that allow you to listen to songs stored in this device. Every headphone brand varies in price, sound generating capacity and durability. The market is flooded with headphones of different varieties that have given music lovers the freedom to choose the headset that suits their tastes the best.

Some of the features that a good headphone must ideally have:

* Degree of comfort: comfort must be of the highest consideration and the quality of sound must be exceptional.
* They should be light in weight and easy to wear.
* Earphones ought to be fitted with a woofer that gives a surround sound effect and makes the listening pleasure even more enriching.
* For those who like to work out in the gym, wireless headphones are preferred that do not get entangled when you are playing or exercising.
* Noise reducing factor: good quality earphones when worn should be able to eradicate all other extra noise so that only the music can be heard. This is most suited for those people who like to listen to music in complete isolation. A knob attached to the headphones also allows the listener to adjust the volume according to his convenience.

There are plenty of websites that sell these earbud headphones for the iPod owners. If you are the kind of person that likes to hear music in quiet places it does not make sense to spend a lot of money to buy iPod earbuds that has noise reduction features. Rather you should opt for those headphones that guarantee better tonal quality.

How Rock ‘n’ Roll Music Can Improve Learning and Reading

Some educators do not realize that they can use music to their advantage in the classroom. For example, music can help improve their students reading level. Educators can also use music as one of the teaching strategies for reading. Students can use music as an interesting way to strengthen their reading comprehension skills while also having fun. Professional learning communities can help monitor students learning by using music as a way to get them to focus on the lessons each day. Learning to read music can be helpful in teaching students to understand reading other materials as well. Members of professional learning communities use "results-oriented" action to determine what each student's weakest areas are and continuously use this method to see what improvements need to be made. This can prove to be a very effective method for many students, parents, and educators in the community.

Because professional learning communities are a great way to create a collaborative environment and encourage participation, music can be a tool to unite all students in this way. It's also important to remember that reading can be difficult to teach especially because each student has different difficulties and strengths with reading. Learning how to read music and understand the different notes can be a helpful way to get certain students on the same reading level as other students because some people have very different learning styles than others.

There are few teaching strategies for reading that are as fun for children as rock 'n' roll music can be. Teachers can incorporate parts of rock 'n' roll history, culture, business, and research as part of their lesson plans. This can also lead to greater participation throughout all professional learning communities. If students are reading about the history of rock 'n' roll music it can get them interested in reading overall. Reading about the people, events, and places of rock 'n' roll music history will help students practice their reading skills while also teaching them about an important era of American history and culture. Students should know how their lives have been developed and influenced by rock 'n' roll music.

Professional learning communities pay attention to each person's own personal learning style and teaching strategies for reading can be customized to fit each learner's needs. Teachers can improve comprehension throughout the curriculum by using these strategies. Students need to understand non-fiction, informational, and narrative text as well as develop vocabulary. Professional learning communities can help teachers gain the reflective strategies, writing strategies, and assessments needed to evaluate their student's performance and to see if they are grasping the material.

Rock 'n' roll music can be a useful way to help with strategic lesson planning. Because reading is such a complex process, teachers should understand the stages of reading development and the literacy demands of the real-world. It's important for educators to not only understand the reading process, but to also research the best practices and methods available for teaching strategies for reading. Lastly, remember that it can always be valuable to teach reading through collaboration, cooperation, and participation by everyone in the learning community.

When Should My Child Begin Music Lessons? A Comparison of Waldorf and Suzuki Philosophies

am a trained Waldorf early childhood teacher and have also completed training as a "Music Together" teacher (a music and movement program for preschoolers and their parents) through the Center for Music and Young Children in Princeton, NJ. In addition, I am a Suzuki parent and a strong supporter of Suzuki music education. I have been interested in comparing the similarities and differences between Suzuki and Waldorf pedagogy ever since discovering how much they share in common.

In spite of the number of similarities in approach, one fundamental difference between the two approaches is regarding the age at which a child should begin formal music instruction. Suzuki students are encouraged to begin instrumental lessons as early as age two or three. On the other hand, students in a Waldorf school do not begin lessons with string instruments until third or fourth grade. My personal opinion is that Suzuki, for many children, starts too early, and that Waldorf schools may start too late. Based on my research and observation, I believe that age seven is a more appropriate age for most children to begin private music lessons -- for many of the same reasons that make seven the ideal age for a child to begin formal, academic learning at school, according to Waldorf philosophy.

In Waldorf pedagogy, formal academic learning does not begin until, ideally the age of seven. This comes after a period of intense growth during the first seven years of life, after which, according to Rudolf Steiner, the founder of Waldorf education, the child's "etheric" or life forces are freed up for more cognitive pursuits. As a child of seven is better able to sit and focus on formal "lessons" than a younger child, so a child of this age would be better able to focus on formal music instruction, and to be capable of practicing. I have questioned many different music teachers - Suzuki teachers, traditional music teachers and Waldorf music teachers -- on whether there is a great advantage to starting children on an instrument as early as three- to five-years old and, by and large, most teachers I've talked to seem to agree that children who start when they are older (say, seven or eight) are not at a disadvantage; they are usually able to catch up quickly with the children who have been taking lessons since they were much younger.

Within a few months of starting cello, I observed that my seven-year-old caught up to the same place as another seven-year-old boy in his class who'd been playing for a full two years. My child, I would say, has fairly average musical ability. He is musical, but not precocious.

I think it is unnatural for a child under seven to be asked to sit down and practice an instrument daily, no matter how short or playful the practice session. I feel strongly that children under seven should be moving, playing and engaged in their imagination without the pressure or stress of practicing, or worse, performing. They are learning an enormous amount -- taking in the world through their senses, developing their imaginations through play and the experience of life. This short and precious period of childhood should be free from the pressures of performing and feeling the need to please others.

On the other hand, most Waldorf schools don't start teaching strings until third or fourth grade. I worry that this is too late. Recent brain research indicates that there is a musical learning "window" of opportunity that closes around the age of nine (similar to the "window" for language acquisition). Based upon my research and observation, I believe that it is more difficult, though certainly not impossible, for children to become proficient at an instrument if they start after the age of nine. Waldorf students are, of course, learning to play the pentatonic flute, and often the soprano recorder, before the age of nine, which is absolutely beneficial and helps to develop the student's musical ear. There are many Waldorf teachers who would argue that learning to play a stringed instrument or the piano would be inappropriate for a child under nine. I do not agree with them. My own experience with my children has been entirely rewarding and positive, having started them with music lessons at ages seven and eight.

Music Aggregator - Both Useful and Profitable Service Offerings

Music aggregators work wonders when it comes to MP3 blog readership and accessibility by skillfully using the RSS technology. It basically collects data from MP3 blogs and links to the individual blog posts instead of directly to the MP3s.

Today we have aggregators such as The Hype Machine and Elbo.ws. They usually track MP3 blog posts and display the most recently updated posts on its front page. The services provided by aggregators have been useful in providing a snapshot of the latest innovation in music blogging which makes it easier to search through recently posted MP3s.

With respect to "The Hype Machine", it features a list of the most popular tracks, blogged bands and popular searches of the last three days. It enables users to play the music directly from the browser. But it does not list blogs whose writers or editors are involved in the music business or associated public relations industry.

"Elbo.ws" has a similar feature listing to "The Hype Machine" and lists Bands, Tracks and Videos which are currently "hot" and/or "most wanted".

There are many benefits of music aggregators. Today there are plenty of aggregators on the market which are turning out to be good for competition and money making opportunities.

If music aggregators possesses a good digital music browser that can hit random sites to get new music then they can cash in as a hosting service. Many of today's music listeners are moving towards the relatively new and thriving trend as music aggregation sites evolve.

It turns out that owning a self music aggregator site is profitable. Music aggregator sites have proven to be very useful in tracking favorite bands. There are a handful of established sites in existence and more are expected to come by the end of the year -- if the current trends are accurate.

Also, for musicians, using a music aggregator is a terrific way to track how their album is being received by music bloggers across the net.

In order to be a successful aggregator of music, one needs to be organized as a digital media business with extensive music catalogs, soundtracks and master recordings which can be distributed digitally under license in the games, broadcast, film and music industries.

These are known as business-to-business (B2B) applications. The successful music aggregator must operate digital warehouses and hold licensed content in various formats for distribution to media and retail businesses.

It is also pretty easy to become an independent music aggregator since they too have a similar role as the big warehouses, handling more titles and artists but distributing to lower volume outlets as well as the bigger ones. Independent aggregators tend to be global.
